FAQs

What makes the Peacekeeper RCB Baton different than all other expandable batons?

The RCB is perimeter weighted. Unlike other expandable batons that have most of the weight in the handle, the RCB has the weight redistributed in the striking area of the baton. Having the weight in the periphery of the arc while swinging the baton, results in higher Kinetic Energy transfer into the subject, making it a Force Multiplier. This also means that any officer can achieve more impact with less swing.

The Peacekeeper weighs the same as some batons and is only slightly heavier than others. (about the weight of 6 pennies). It is the redistribution of the weight and mass that is NECESSARY to contain a subject rapidly! Carrying a light weight baton on a duty belt for months of non use is a waste of dead weight if the baton is ineffective when the officer must defend his/her life.

All Peacekeeper primary strike tubes are fully machined, and not formed, flared or swaged. This is the key to our patented joint lock design.

What problems can be associated with improperly balanced batons or lightweight batons ?

Officers and agencies that approve light weight batons run the risk of engaging in a long altercation. The human body cannot generate enough force with a lightweight baton, to gain immediate compliance of an aggressive subject. Therefore multiple strikes using light weight batons are not uncommon. Multiple strikes increase several risks to the officer and agency. Since the officer must deploy multiple strikes to gain subject compliance there is more time for an aggressive subject to attack the officer. Furthermore deployment of multiple baton strikes creates very poor public perception (especially if the incident is filmed on videotape). The public can count, but they cannot perceive the amount of mass that is delivered.

What are the available sizes and styles of Peacekeeper RCB Expandable Batons ?

The Peacekeeper RCB Expandable Baton is available in 21”, 24”, 26”, and 29” sizes in either a Black Zinc or Electroless Nickel (corrosion-resistant).

How much does the Peacekeeper Baton weigh?

Peacekeeper offers more baton sizes than any other baton manufacturer, including a 29" which is ideal for Civil Disturbance and Riot Control.
With the four different sizes, 21", 24", 26", 29", each baton weighs approximately 1 oz. per inch.

What is the difference between Black Zinc or Nickel Electroless finish?
The Nickel Electroless batons are plated inside the tubes and out. However, once the baton is deployed, the accompaniment of the audible sound that is given off when the RCB is deployed and the visual appearance of the RCB, gives the officer a commanding presence of authority. This commanding presence alone has been known to stop an aggressive subject. Some officers prefer a black stealthy look, however the Nickel finish RCB looks identically stealthy to a Black RCB while in the holster. "The Best Fight is the one that you DON'T get into!"

Can I perform jabbing techniques with the RCB ?

Yes. Due to the patented Friction Lock design, and broad 1” end cap, the RCB will not prematurely collapse on a human subject when expanded properly.

What is the best way to expand the RCB ?

The RCB can be expanded in either the Primary method or the Secondary method.

Primary Method: Unlike other manufactures, Peacekeeper does not teach to expand the baton upward or behind the officer. The RCB is best expanded in one motion, in a downward fashion besides ones perspective ankle (Rt. or Lt.) then brought up to the shoulder to assess the threat if necessary. This downward deployment utilizes gravity to work for the officer to lock the joints rather than having gravity work against the officer.

Secondary Method: The RCB can also be expanded by grabbing the tip of the baton and snapping it out vigorously while holding the handle. This is ideal for impact weapon use in confined space. Jabbing techniques are not recommended using the secondary method of deployment.

What is the best way to collapse an RCB ?

Simply hold the RCB LOOSELY approximately 24” above the ground. Send it to the ground or firm surface vigorously to break loose both joints. It is not necessary to drive the baton into the back of the handle cap. Alternatively, tap and roll the baton at a 45 degree angle on a firm surface until the joints vibrate loose. With an open palm, send the tip of the baton into the handle.

What is the difference between a friction lock baton vs. a push button baton ?

The Friction Lock baton is simple by design, use, and function, with less than 10 parts. It is a very Simple, Durable, and Dependable design. There are no moving parts or ball bearings that lead to mechanical failure in deployment or collapsing. Though convenient, push button batons allow for a “leak” in kinetic energy transfer. Once expanded, the Peacekeeper Baton acts just like a straight stick baton.

Will the Peacekeeper RCB Expandable Baton fit in my current duty holster ?

No. Peacekeeper brings Law Enforcement back to the effective 1 1/4” diameter that has been used officers for over half a century. The Peacekeeper RCB Baton uses larger striking tubes and striking tips than traditional expandable batons. Therefore, Peacekeeper RCB Batons will only fit properly into holsters designed to specifically accommodate the Peacekeeper RCB Baton.

What are the different types and styles of holsters available for the Peacekeeper RCB ?

There are currently four different types of holsters approved for the Peacekeeper RCB Expandable Baton:
Peacekeeper's True Fit Holsters are available in Plain, Basketweave, Clarino (high-gloss) Leather and Ballistic Nylon.
The Secure Lock Rotational Holster is an innovative rotational holster that allows the baton to be canted and locked in place at 0, 30, 60, or 90 degrees at the push of a button.

Does Peacekeeper make a Closed end Holster ?

No. Many officers have resorted to Closed End holsters to reduce the chance of their baton expanding through the bottom. This is a huge Liability to the officer and agency alike. Once a baton is expanded and used on a subject, many officers have ditched their weapon on the ground, tuck it under their arm or behind their knee, or even in their waistband, because the two hands of the subject then become most important. These are all liable positions. The best place for an expanded baton is in its holster or scabbard.

Does Peacekeeper make a Break Away Holster ?

No. Peacekeeper never has or ever will offer a break away holster. We believe that break away holsters allows an encountering subject to easily draw an officers baton.

What makes the Secure Lock Rotational Holster different than other rotational holsters ?

The Secure-Lock Rotational holster has been uniquely designed to rotate, by manually depressing a button at the top of the holster. Once this button has been depressed, the holster can be rotated 30, 60, or 90 degrees from perpendicular, in either direction. The holster has been designed to lock in place once the appropriate angle of the holster has been achieved and the button is released. Unlike other holsters that inadvertently move from one position to another after a few months of use, the Secure-Lock Rotational Holster is designed to keep your baton in the same position that you left it regardless of physical activity.

The Secure-Lock Rotational holster holds the baton securely and allows for efficient release. Like all Peacekeeper holsters, the Secure-Lock allows for the insertion of the RCB expandable baton back in the holster in the expanded mode. This feature allows the officer the ability to retain their baton safely in the expanded mode until the suspect is contained and it is safe and convenient to collapse.

This is an ideal design since every officer has a different preference as to which angle is most comfortable and appropriate for a rapid draw whether the baton is placed on the duty belt behind the officer in a perpendicular manner or placed in a cross draw fashion. Each holster can be used by a left or right handed officer. The belt clip can be adjusted to accommodate any duty belt including Leather, Pleather©, Accumold©, or Nylon from 2 ½” to 1 ½”.
